⚽️ Sports, Culture, Art & Recreation

Promoting Inclusion, Well-being, Talent Development, and Community Unity

Introduction

TESFA Refugees with Disabilities Association believes that sports, culture, arts, and recreation are powerful tools for promoting physical health, mental well-being, social inclusion, leadership, confidence, and community unity. Every refugee with a disability has talents, creativity, and the right to participate in cultural, artistic, and recreational activities without discrimination.

The Sports, Culture, Art & Recreation Program creates opportunities for refugees with disabilities to discover and develop their talents, improve their health, build friendships, preserve cultural heritage, and actively participate in community life. Through inclusive sports, cultural events, artistic expression, and recreational activities, TESFA empowers members to overcome barriers, celebrate diversity, and live healthy and fulfilling lives.

The programme also promotes peace, teamwork, disability awareness, and community integration by bringing together refugees, host communities, government institutions, humanitarian organizations, schools, sports clubs, and cultural groups.

Background

Many refugees with disabilities have limited access to sports facilities, cultural activities, artistic opportunities, and recreational spaces due to physical, social, financial, and attitudinal barriers. Participation in sports, arts, and recreation improves physical fitness, emotional well-being, communication skills, leadership, teamwork, creativity, and social inclusion.
